MONGOLIAN BEEF STEW
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 500 g lean beef steak
- 3 small winter carrots
- 1 big onion
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed
- ½ tablespoon ginger powder
- 1½ tablespoons chilli flakes
- 1 tablespoon sunflower oil
- 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
- 1 tablespoon soya sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon sambal
- 2 tablespoons brown caster sugar
- salt and pepper, to taste
Cut the meat into small strips.
Sprinkle the meat with salt, pepper and cornstarch.
Pour sunflower oil, sesame oil, hoisin sauce, soya sauce and the sambal in a bowl and stir well.
Add the crushed garlic, ginger powder, chilli flakes and caster sugar, and mix very well until you see that the ingredients have almost dissolved.
Cut the onions and winter carrots into thin rings, add to the mixture and mix well.
Add the meat to the mixture and place it in a slow cooker on low.
Cook for eight hours.
