BRITISH SAUSAGE ROLLS

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 lbs sausage meat
  • 3 eggs
  • black pepper
  • salt
  • cake flour for pastry rolling
  • 25 ounces Puff pastry

Gather ingredients.  Preheat oven to 400ºF. Fry onion till brown in oil.  Mix sausage meat, onion, 2 eggs. Season with salt and pepper.
Roll out pastry into two 8 by 10 inch rectiangles. Cut each rectangle into two long strips – 4 in total. Let it rest in fridge for 10 minutes.
Form the sausage meat into a long sausage in the length of each pastry strip. Beat the remaining egg and brush edges of the pastry.
Fold pastry over the meat filling to form long rolls. Flip sausage roll over so the seam is underneath. Brush the top surface with egg.
Cut the rolls into desired lenghts and place onto a lightly greased baking pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes or untill golden brown.
You can add other spices, such as sage, rosemary and thyme if you want.
