I’m not a morning person. At all. Catherine’s school things must be placed at the front door before she goes to bed, that’s how bad I am at dealing with morning routines. So when she asks me for this “chocolate oats for breakfast” I am so happy to oblige.

  • ½ cup oats
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • a pinch of salt
  • 1 ½ cup hot water (straight from the kettle)

Mix everything together and leave it standing in the microwave. In the morning, heat it up for 60 seconds and breakfast is served.
