FISH BREAD AND BUTTER DISH

Cook: 20 - 25 minutes | Servings: 4 portions

FISH BREAD AND BUTTER DISH

So, I have this innate, absolute hatred of wasting food. I have no idea where it comes from, it just is what it is. I also dislike reheating leftovers, do you see my problem? Anyway, so this is how this one came about.

  • 1 leftover piece of hake, I’d guess about 400 g
  • 3 hotdog buns, cut into pieces
  • A bit of butter (for the buns)
  • 2 eggs
  • 400 ml milk
  • 100 g Cheddar cheese, grated
  • salt, pepper and Italian herbs

Flake the fish into an ovenproof dish.
Place the lightly buttered pieces of bread on top of the flaked fish. There are no rules here. Just let everything say hello to everything else.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
Pour the mixture over the bread and fish.
Sprinkle over the grated cheese.
Add salt, pepper and herbs to taste.
Bake in the oven at 180°C for around 20 to 25 minutes.

Note:
I’m not going to tell you to be careful of bones – if you’ve made it thus far, you’re probably okay. However, if you have a little squirrel in your house making it, tell them to watch out.
