DOUGHNUTS
- 6 cups of flour (plain/bread) used bread flour on this
- 2 cups of warm milk
- 2 tablespoons yeast
- 2 eggs
- 8 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 4 tablespoons butter
Mix milk and margarine and warm on the stove. Do not boil the milk.
Sift the flour and salt into a bowl and make a well in the middle.
Put the yeast and egg in the well.
Then sprinkle the sugar on the flour.
Pour the milk mixture into the well and mix thoroughly. It should not be runny.
Knead the dough and put in an oiled bowl. Cover with a wet dish towel or a plastic bag and leave to rise until double in size. Knead again to knock the air out of the dough.
Cut into smaller pieces and roll into balls and lay on a tray. Cover the tray with a wet dish towel or plastic bag and let the buns rise.
Now take a small round cutter and place at the centre and press. Put your oil in the pan on medium heat. Now put the doughnuts in the oil.
Bake 3 – 4 minutes on each side.
Decorate with anything you like or dip in melted chocolate.
