CHAKALAKA BUNS

Sharing my chakalaka buns… Family favorite. Also economic.

  • 4 cups of cake flour
  • 1½ packet of yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 125 ml fish oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • boiling water, slightly cooled down and enough to get a nice soft dough
  • 1 tin of mild and spicy chakalaka
  • grated cheese

Heat oven to 175ºC.
Place all dry ingredients in a bowl. Make a little hollow in middle.
Mix, using one hand. Over-mixing of dough causes dough not to rise great. *Just a tip.
Cover and let stand for 30 minutes to rise.
Form little balls and place in greased oven pan. Let it stand for another 15 minutes.
Pour the chakalaka over the buns and half of the grated cheese.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Add the rest of the cheese while still warm. Enjoy!
