CARAMELIZED ONIONS
Ek het in ysterpan op stoof gemaak, pan het hout handvatsel, uie oorgegooi in oondpan en verder in oond gebraai. Regtig lekker uitgekom.
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 900 g – 1 kg small onions, peeled and halved
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Heat oven to 400°F (200ºC).
Heat oil in cast iron skillet over medium high heat, add onions and sugar and toss to coat.
Cook for 10 minutes, tossing occasionally, until they start to brown.
Add vinegar, salt and pepper and toss well.
Place the pan in the oven and roast for 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the onions, until they are tender.
Season to taste and serve hot.
