BRANDY TART
“Hi all. Brandy tart recipe I made on the weekend. The longer it stands the nicer it is. I have been making this recipe for many years. Enjoy.”
- Tart:
- 1 cup castor sugar
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ cup brandy
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- pinch of salt
- 1½ cups dates, chopped
- 1 cup pecan nuts or hazel nuts, chopped
- 1 cup boiling water
- Sauce:
- 1½ cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- ¼ cup brandy
- 1 cup cold water
Tart:
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, mix well. Add flour, baking powder and salt. In separate bowl, pour boiling water over dates and nuts with bicarbonate of soda. Add to sugar-butter mix. Mix well, add brandy. Pour into a greased dish. Bake at 180 °C for 35 minutes. Let cool.
Sauce:
Bring all ingredients to boil and boil for five minutes. Pour hot sauce over tart.
Can stand for 2 – 3 days, taste even better.
Serve with cream or custard.
