BANANA AND PEANUT TREATS FOR DOGS
- 1 ripe banana, mashed
- ½ cup (125 g) natural peanut butter (unsweetened, xylitol-free)
- 1 cup (120 g) whole wheat flour
- ¼ cup (60 ml) water, or more as needed
- 1 tablespoon honey, optional, for added sweetness
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon, optional, for flavor
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, mash the ripe banana until smooth.
Add the peanut butter, honey, and cinnamon (if using) to the mashed banana and stir to combine.
Gradually add the whole wheat flour, stirring until a dough forms.
Add water a little at a time until the dough comes together and is not too sticky.
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about ¼-inch thickness.
Use a knife or cookie cutter to cut the dough into shapes.
Place the shapes on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12 – 15 minutes, or until golden brown and firm.
Allow the treats to cool completely before serving to your dog.
Notes:
I added 1 teaspoon turmeric and ½ a teaspoon of black pepper to activate the inflammatory properties of the turmeric.
These are the perfect tasty treat for your furry friend!
Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.
Perfect for a fun snack or as a reward during training!
I doubled the recipe, pressed out round shapes (dough rolled out slightly thinner than 1 cm thick) with the back of a large icing tip and got 180 little treats!
