PILLOW BREAD
Recipe and photo: Yasmeen Ibrahim
My husband calls this pillow bread because it’s so soft and fluffy. Very simple to make.
- 2 teaspoons yeast
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- ½ cup of full cream milk (lukewarm)
- 50 g butter
- 3 cups of cake flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- Mix yeast, sugar, water and milk and leave aside for 10 minutes.
- Sift flour and salt and mix in butter.
- Mix together yeast and flour mixture for 5 minutes and leave in a dish greased with oil. Cover with a cloth.
- After 1 hour roll out on a lightly floured surface. Roll like a Swiss roll and place in a greased bread loaf tin.
- Leave for another 1 hour to rise.
- Bake at 180°C for 25 minutes.
- Rub butter on top as soon as it’s baked.
