TUNA MACARONI
- 250 g macaroni (half a packet)
- 2 tins tuna, in brine
- Cheese Sauce:
- 2 tablespoons cake flour
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 cups buttermilk
- milk, enough to thin sauce
- 2 cups grated cheese
Preheat oven to 180°C. Spray casserole dish.
Boil macaroni (Tip: place wooden spoon across the top of the pot to prevent it from boiling over)
Place cooked macaroni and drained tuna in casserole dish. Mix well.
Make cheese sauce:
Melt butter and stir in flour, add milk and buttermilk.
Add ¾ of the cheese.
Season to taste (I use a GENEROUS amount of Ina Paarman’s Italian cheese spice)
Pour over macaroni and tuna. Mix well. Sprinkle remaining cheese on top.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Serve with a salad.
