RAINBOW BREAD
Easy basic white bread recipe coloured. Makes meals interesting for the little ones.
- 4 cups flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 10 g instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons oil
- ± 400 ml warm water
- food colouring, your choice
Sift flour and salt together. Add sugar and yeast and mix well. Add oil and water to form a soft dough. Knead until smooth.
Place in a lightly oiled bowl and let rise until double in size.
Knock down and divide into 6.
Add a few drops of food colouring to each peace and knead until colour incorporated (keep kneading, it will come together)
Roll each into a rectangle and place each on top of the other until all pieces are on top of each other. Use a rolling pin and roll to flatten.
Roll up like a Swiss roll and place in baking tins that have been greased with melted butter. Let this rise again covered for about 15 minutes in a warm place.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 30 minutes until done.
Spread top with some melted butter when it comes out the oven.
