MILK BREAD
Sorry for the half eaten milk bread. My family couldn’t wait to eat it.😁
- 4 ½ cups of cake flour
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of instant yeast
- 60 g of butter
- 1 cup of warm milk
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of fennel powder, optional
- 1 egg to brush
Combine all dry ingredients in a large bowl. (Flour, salt, sugar, instant yeast and fennel powder).
In a separate bowl add warm milk, eggs and butter and mix well
Make a dough by kneading well, leave to rise in a warm place for 2 hours.
Knead again and break off small pieces and stack next to each other in an oven proof dish.
Leave to rise for 30 minutes, then brush with the egg and bake at 190 ºC for 15 to 20 minutes.
Smear some butter on top as soon as it comes out of the oven.
Note:
We had ours with a curry. Great with soup or just butter and tea.
