ERIK’S STICKY COCA COLA WINGS

  • 350 g chicken wings
  • 5 tsp Portuguese chicken spice
  • 5 tsp course black pepper
  • 30 ml Golden syrup
  • 30 ml soya sauce
  • 500 ml Coca Cola
  • 5 ml olive oil
  • 5 g roasted sesame seeds

Cut the wings in half.
Coat the wings with the olive oil, sprinkle the wings with Portuguese spice and pepper.
Fry the wings in a pot till wings are golden brown.
Throw off the fat should there be any rendered fat in the pot.
Cover the wings with the Coke Cola.
Add the Golden syrup and soya sauce.
Cook over high heat till the sauce becomes thick and syrupy.

Note:
Do not stir the wings, rather swirl the pot because you do not want the meat to come off the bones.
I serve the sticky wings with crispy baby potatoes.
Sprinkle some roasted sesame seeds on the wings as garnish.
