CHEAT HOT CROSS BUNS
I made a take on hot cross buns using 2 ingredient dough. They don’t look the best, but I am so surprised that they actually taste like the REAL THING!
I’m going to name this CHEAT HOT CROSS BUNS.
- 2 cups self raising flour
- 1 cup plain yogurt (I used full cream)
- ½ a cup of castor sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon mixed spice
- 120 g fruit cake mix (I used the luxury mix)
Mix all dry ingredients together. Add yogurt and fruit. Knead for a minute or two until it comes together.
Divide into 8 portions and roll into balls.
- Make cross mix by mixing:
- 50 g flour
- 45 ml water
- 15 ml oil
- 7,5 ml sugar
Pipe crosses onto buns.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C until golden and cooked through (tap to hear if hollow… they will be baked then.
- Make a quick glaze:
- 5 g sugar
- 30 ml water
Brush over buns when they come out of the oven. And there you go.
YUM!
