ASIAN PORK RIBS
Vir die koue seisoen as almal besig is…vark ribbetjie in die prutpot (slow cooker) of elektriese drukpot (pressure cooker). Met ‘n Oosterse geur.
- 800 g – 1 kg pork ribs
- 1 ½ cups chicken stock
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 teaspoons ginger paste
- 2 cloves garlic, grated
- 2 star anise
- 1 teaspoon chinese-5-spice mix
- ½ teaspoon chilli flakes
- 1 spring onion, chopped
- 3 tablespoons black and white sesame seeds
Put the ribs in the slow cooker/pressure cooker.
Mix the rest of the ingredients (except the spring onion and sesame seeds) and pour over the meat.
Slow cook the meat for 5 – 6 hours on high or 35 minutes on high pressure in the pressure cooker until the meat is tender.
Remove the ribs carefully and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
Boil the sauce for about 15 – 20 minutes until thick.
Pour the sauce over the ribs and bake covered at 200ºC and grill uncovered for 5 – 7 minutes at maximum heat until the ribs are glossy and golden brown.
Sprinkle with the spring onion and sesame seeds (and salt if necessary) and serve with stir-fried vegetables.
