OMA BEA’S DUTCH SPICE CAKE
I am a beginner when it comes to baking cakes. I am trying my late mother’s Dutch kruidkoek.
- 700 g brown sugar
- 700 g self raising flour
- 2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 litre warm (close to boiling) milk
Sift all the dry ingredients together and mix with the warm milk.
Divide the dough into two prepared bread baking trays more or less 25 x 11 x 6cm.
Bake for one hour at 180˚C or till the tester is clean.
Baking times can varies, bake for 10+ minutes longer if needed.
